Hello lovely blogosphere and welcome to March!
It’s hard to believe it’s already Thursday again. This week has zoomed by thanks to some commotion at work as well as my continuing battle against the cough-that-won’t-go-away. But a near-70-degree sunny day to shepherd in the new month seems the best medicine — let’s hope the lamb-like weather continues.
Last weekend, some girlfriends from the old girls-only movie night* were in town and this weekend friends from my coed fraternity in college are visiting to watch our alma mater take down the a certain devilish rival in b-ball. I’m loving the revolving door of company and hope it continues — guests, come one and all!
Also, thanks to my mom’s adorable care package, I’ve got a couple months worth of InsStyle and Vanity Fair to catch up on. The former is one of my favorite publications while the latter is pretty hit or miss. But with covers featuring Hollywood’s leading men (hello, Mr. Clooney, Craig, and Damon) and bright new stars (Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska, etc.), I’m anticipating a major hit.
On a last note: The Oscars! Best acceptance speech? Obviously the debonair Christopher Plummer. Funniest presenters? A three-way tie between Robert Downy, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow; Emma Stone and Ben Stiller; and Melissa McCarthy and Rose Bryne — Scorsese! Billy Crystal was entertaining as he always is, but obviously the Academy was playing it too safe. Next time: I suggest pairing up Hugh Jackman with Crystal or Anne Hathaway.
Also, what was with the Cirque de Soleil bit? Bring back the musical performances — especially when the Muppets are nominated.
*Movie night was started by one of my best friends back in 2007 as an all girls night where we watch foreign and independent films. Baked goods and wine are always abundant as is funny side commentary.
