Welcoming spring and borrowing its colors

The first day of spring snuck up on me yesterday — aren’t equinoxes on the 21st or 22nd? — with a 7 a.m. thundershower that will be bringing sooner-than-May flowers.

It seems the runways are following suit with powdery pastels popping up in many fashion collections.  After realizing that 60% of my laundry was black or dark brown, I’m excited to shed those dark winter layers in favor of something lighter. And since much of my warm weather apparel is still in North Carolina, I think this is the perfect excuse to do some vintage (hello, 1920s detailing) and retail shopping over the upcoming weekend.
